SPD Wins One Gold & One Silver At The 5th ELA International Landscape Award

SPD won gold award of “best open space landscape of the year” for the project Pingshan River waterfront design, and silver award of “best urban renewal project of the year” for the Qinglan Bridge art renovation. It is the second time SPD wins this international landscape award since our two awards last year.
AN ECOLOCIAL REVATILIZAION OF THE MOTHER RIVER OF PINGSHAN
SPD started the landscape design of Pingshan River exhibition section in 2018. As the mother river of Pingshan District, Pingshan River used to nourish the people and culture here. But during the excessive urban development, the river became polluted and slowly forgotten by people. SPD provided very specific design strategy and promoted the environment of waterfront area immensely after two years of design and construction. There will be unlimited opportunities in future.
| ENERGETIC AND ATTRACTIVE WATERFRONT
BRIDGE RESERVATION AS THE SYMBOL OF LOCAL CULTURE
An obsolete bridge was spotted during field survey of Puxi River waterfront design project. The bridge is named “Qinglan” and was about to be torn down because of flood control. The chief designer of Puxi River, Mr. Li Fengyu regarded the bridge as an important cultural heritage, and persuaded local government to reconstruct it as an art and culture landmark on the river. SPD and other specialty experts provided many professional suggestions for saving this bridge. In July 2020, the city of Huangshan was hit by rare rainstorm, the reborn Qinglan Bridge safely survived from the big flood. The Qinglan Bridge reservation project has now become a perfect example of science and art devotion to urban regeneration.

The ELA has successfully held for four sessions, increasingly gaininginternational recognitions from renowned design firms from China, USA,Japan，UK, Germany, Canada and Australia.
